Child Killed by Falling Tree in Carroll County

The executive director of a Christian summer camp in Maryland where a boy died after a tree fell on him during a storm said the camp is reviewing how it responds to severe weather events.

Camp Executive Director Jon Bisset said Wednesday that the River Valley Ranch camp in Carroll County will review all its protocols after a 12-year-old camper died Tuesday night. Bisset said the camp monitors weather and storms but will review its procedures.

Bisset did not release the name of the boy who died, but said he had been to the camp before.

The more than 100 campers who were at the site during the storm have been picked up by their parents. Parents were expected to return Wednesday evening to collect the children's belongings.
