D.C. Fire and EMS said the victim was in critical condition and he was pinned under the bus. Dramatic video of the rescue showed several firefighters working to get the child out from underneath the front of the bus. Firefighters then got the victim into a medevac.

The crash happened about 6:50 p.m. on the 1900 block of Independence Ave. SW along the National Mall. There did not appear to be a crosswalk nearby, News4's Shomari Stone reports.
