National Day of Service: Chelsea Clinton Gets Role in Inauguration

Chelsea Clinton will have a role in the events leading up to President Barack Obama’s second inauguration.

The former first daughter will chair the 2013 National Day of Service.

Clinton will lead a summit on the National Mall Saturday. Service organizations from around the country will show opportunities to get involved. Actresses Eva Longoria and Angela Bassett are expected to take part.

Other events for the National Day of Service will be held in each of the 50 states.

The National Day of Service coincides with the national observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.

Clinton's role was announced Tuesday by the 2013 Presidential Inauguration Committee.

This is the biggest public role Clinton's had since 1997 when she stood next to her father at his second swearing-in.
