Charles County Home Invasion Suspects Lead Police on Chase

Authorities say men broke into a home in Hughesville around 5 a.m. Wednesday; held family at gunpoint

Three suspects in a Charles County home invasion led police on a chase to the D.C./Prince George's County line Wednesday morning.

Authorities say three men kicked in the door of a home on Leonardtown Road in Hughesville around 5 a.m. Wednesday and held a family of three at gunpoint.

The mother and her 5-year-old son were not hurt. The father of the family was struck several times during the incident; he is expected to recover.

The men reportedly took money before fleeing in a white Chevy Tahoe.

Charles County police officers pursued the suspects out of the county. The vehicle was last seen in the area of Route 50 and South Dakota Avenue, reported News4's Derrick Ward.

Investigators believe the family was targeted and do not believe the home invasion was a random act.
