“Cell-Phone Burglar” Sentenced

A Montgomery County man who got caught breaking into homes because he left his cell phone behind at one of the homes will serve 26.5 years in prison, reported The Gazette.

A judge delivered the sentence to 25-year-old Cody Wilkins on Thursday.

Cody Wilkins, 25, pleaded guilty to seven break-ins, all in the Montgomery County area. He is suspected in at least eight more similar crimes. He was sentenced Thursday.

Wilkins said he broke into the homes to help feed his expensive oxycodone habit. Court documents show he stole more than $74,000 in items from the homes he hit, The Gazette reported.
