Celebrate National Ice Cream Day with Special Deals

National Ice Cream month is celebrated in July, but the third Sunday in July takes on special meaning as the National Ice Cream Day, as signed into public law by presidential decree.

The legislation, signed by President Ronald Reagan on July 9, 1984, proclaimed July 1984 as National Ice Cream Month and July 15, 1984 as National Ice Cream Day. Even though the legislation specifically mentioned those dates, the need to celebrate ice cream continues.

Many ice cream places celebrate with free ice cream for customers and special events to celebrate the cool treat. Other non-ice cream places are working in ice cream into their own products for a special twist on the holiday.

Here are some events and activities for people and pets taking place this year. Always check with an area ice cream shop to see if and how they are celebrating National Ice Cream Day.
