Car Strikes, Kills 75-Year-Old Man Walking in Alexandria

A 75-year-old man is dead after a driver hit him in Alexandria, Virginia, Saturday morning, police say.

John Thompson was crossing Duke Street at the Sweeley Street intersection when the car struck him. He was in the crosswalk, Alexandria police said.

The Fairfax resident was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The driver of the car that hit Thompson stayed at the scene, police said.
