CIA Leak Trial Continues After Condoleezza Rice Testimony

With attention-grabbing testimony from former national security adviser Condoleezza Rice behind them, jurors in the leak trial of former CIA officer Jeffrey Sterling will now focus their attention on more mundane prosecution witnesses.

Sterling's trial concludes its first week with testimony Friday. The case is expected to run through the end of the month.

Prosecutors say Sterling leaked details about a classified program to thwart Iran's nuclear ambitions by using a CIA asset nicknamed "Merlin'' to funnel deliberately flawed nuclear-weapon blueprints to the Iranians.

Sterling says he didn't leak anything to Risen and that he came under suspicion unfairly because he became an outcast at the agency for filing a racial discrimination complaint.

Rice testified Thursday about the importance of the operation but did not implicate Sterling directly.
