CASA de Maryland Bomb Threats Suspect Surrenders

Man accused of threatening to bomb organization's facilities

SILVER SPRING, Md. -- A man suspected of threatening CASA de Maryland and a CASA employee turned himself into Montgomery County police at about 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.

The threats were made on May 18. At about 3:20 p.m., a man left a threatening message on the organization's civil rights hot line. At about 3:30 p.m., an employee at a Silver Spring facility received a threatening phone call from a man. Both calls included threats of blowing up CASA facilities, police said.

A warrant for 34-year-old Wesley James Queen II was obtained on Oct. 4. He was charged with threatening to use a destructive device and two counts of telephone misuse.

CASA de Maryland communications specialist Mario Quiroz-Servellón said people in the organization feel safer, and he hopes Queen is kept off the street.

Queen is being held on $250,000 bond.
