Bystanders Chase, Hold Alleged Jewelry Store Thief

A store owner got a lot of help from neighbors when a robber hit a northwest D.C. jewelry store.

A man threw a brick through a window, grabbed 70 gold rings and made a run for it Thursday evening. Bystanders saw him and started chasing.

Witnesses told News4 that the robber slammed into a bus stop, slowing him down. The bystanders held him until police arrived.

The window at Rose Jewelers on Mount Pleasant Street has been repaired.
