Ride On Bus Crashes Into House in Silver Spring

About 10-15 people were on the bus

A Silver Spring house has been condemned after a Ride On Bus crashed into it shortly before 11 a.m. Monday.

The accident happened as the driver was attempting to make a right turn from Stateside Drive onto Avenel Road, authorities said.

Femi Olamide was sitting in a Toyota on the street when he saw the bus crash into his taxi in the driveway of his home on 9407 Avenel Road. The bus pushed the taxi onto the lawn and continued into the front of the house.

Two of his sons were inside but were not injured.

"I thought it was an earthquake at first, so when I saw the bus I was completely astounded," Toye Olamide said. "I didn't think something like this could happen."

"I just thought, How in the world could this have happened?" Kofo Olamide said. "Why is there a bus in my living room?"

Nine passengers were on board. Five were transported to local hospitals. None of their injuries is life-threatening. EMS workers also evaluated another four riders at the scene.

A structural inspector condemned the home after an evaluation.
