Burglars Use Sledgehammers to Break In to DC Pharmacies

Burglars are using sledgehammers to break into pharmacies to take narcotics and other valuables, D.C. police said.

There have been four similar burglaries since September, including two on Nov. 4.

Police are trying to determine if there’s a connection.

The burglars are in and out in seconds.

The pharmacies sustained significant losses — thousands in cash, narcotics and property damage.

The burglaries have occurred in every quadrant of the District except Southwest.

A Target store on Georgia Avenue at the Montgomery County line was hit Oct. 21. It has a CVS pharmacy inside.

Police released surveillance video and hoping that despite the burglars hiding their faces, someone will recognize a distinctive pair of sneakers or a distinctive walk.
