Burglars Use Roof to Steal Jewelry From Oxon Hill Store

In what sounds like a scene from a movie, Prince George's County Police say a group of burglars  broke through the roof of a Oxon Hill jewelry store and made off with hundreds of thousands of dollars in merchandise.

The robbery took place back in May at Rivertowne Jewelers at 6105 Oxon Hill Road in Oxon Hill, police said.

Police said the group broke through the roof of the store, lowering their tools through the hole. While a time and date were not specified, investigators said the crooks spent hours using blow torch to access a safe.

They left the store with $500,000 in jewelry.

Authorities do not have anybody in custody as of yet, but there are a number of persons of interest.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at 301-772-4710.
