Buckle Up For a Buck in Laurel

Police will start handing out dollar bills beginning at noon on the 13600 block of Baltimore Avenue

Need a buck? Buckle up and Prince George’s County Police say they will give you a dollar.

On Wednesday, law enforcement officers will be giving out $1 bills as part of the National Click It or Ticket campaign.

You can cash in on the 13600 block of Baltimore Avenue in Laurel, Md., where police will be giving out dollar bills to drivers who have all passengers buckled up in their vehicles.

What happens if you get caught not wearing your safely belt?

Authorities say to plan on receiving some educational materials about the effectiveness of seat belts and child safety seats in saving lives and reducing injuries, as well as the possibility of a pricey ticket.

This is the second event of this kind this month in Prince George’s County. Police conducted a Buckle up for a Buck event on May 14 in Largo.

The cash to be distributed to drivers was donated by the Prince George’s Community Federal Credit Union.

Click It or Ticket is an annual national campaign sponsored by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Maryland State Highway Administration’s Safety Office and it aims at increasing seat belt use among all drivers and passengers in the United States.
