Funeral Held for Fallen Prince George's County Police Officer

Mourners gathered at a Temple Hills church Thursday to say goodbye to a Prince George's County police officer who died in a cruiser crash in Lanham last weekend.

The funeral for 26-year-old Officer Brennan Rabain began at 10 a.m. at Victory Christian Ministries. His interment followed at Lakemount Memorial Park Cemetery in Davidsonville.

Rabain died in a crash around 3:20 a.m. Saturday. His girlfriend told investigators that Rabain was driving her home when he spotted a speeding car. She said she thought Rabain was about to slow down or pull over that car when he lost control and crashed.

She suffered minor injuries in the crash, but Rabain was killed.

Rabain had been off duty, but when he initiated the traffic stop, he went back on duty, police said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. The dashboard camera in the cruiser was broken, police said.

Rabain left behind a 3-year-old daughter, police said. His fellow officers have established a GoFundMe site to help the family, which had raised more than $13,000 as of Thursday morning.
