UPDATE: ON Aug. 8, police charged 27-year-old Jasmine Darnell Matthews with cruelty and injuries to children in connection to the July 25 death of his stepson. He is accused of leaving a loaded handgun in another family member's unsecured vehicle.
A boy died following an apparent accidental shooting in Prince William County Wednesday afternoon.
It appears that 4-year-old Kyrell Kyyon McNeil accidentally shot himself in the head before 3:30 p.m. in the 14800 block of Empire Street in Woodbridge, Va., according to Prince William County police. He was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Kyrell apparently found the handgun in an unlocked pickup truck outside a relative's home. A relative found him suffering from a gunshot wound outside the home.
