Body Recovered from Montgomery County Pond

A body was recovered from a Gaithersburg park retention pond early Sunday afternoon.

Montgomery County police and fire crews were called to a small pond near the entrance of Nike Missile Park along Snouffer School Road shortly before 12:30 p.m. Sunday. A passerby called police after seeing a body in the pond.

Fire and rescue units found and recovered the body of an man. The cause and manner of death are still under investigation.

The man has not yet been identified, but police have released images of tattoos that he had in hopes of having someone identify him. Investigators are asking anyone who may recognize the tattoos or clothing to contact Montgomery County Police.

Police said Maryland-National Capital Park Police were at the pond Friday night after someone reported finding clothes near the water. Investigators from both agencies are working to determine if these two incidents are related.

Police also released images of the clothing, in hopes that someone would identify them.
