Body Found Near Chain Bridge Investigated as Homicide: Police

Police in Washington are investigating a homicide after a body was found underneath Chain Bridge in Northwest D.C. Saturday evening.

D.C. Fire and EMS sources had originally told News 4 that human remains were found in a wooded area near the bridge that connects Clara Barton Parkway in D.C. to George Washington Memorial Parkway in Virginia

The Metropolitan Police Department confirmed to News4 that at about 6:30 p.m., someone discovered an unidentified, unconcious man with body trauma, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

They also confirmed that one of the man's hands had been cut off and that the man had suffered multiple sharp force injuries.

It's unclear exactly where the body was located, but it was discovered near popular walking and biking trails. The Cheseapeake and Ohio Canal Towpath runs directly under Chain Bridge.
