Bicyclist Robbed at Gunpoint in Broad Daylight on W&OD Trail

A woman was robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight on the W&OD Trail in Virginia last weekend, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said.

The woman was riding a bike on the paved path near Williamsburg Road in Sterling about 1 p.m. Saturday when she saw a group of people walking up ahead.

She moved over to the horse trail to avoid them, which is when a man on a bike blocked her path, pulled out a gun and demanded her belongings.

“And as that was going on, another person came up on foot behind and joined in, and they grabbed her jewelry, some other things, and then they took off, and took her bike and the other bike, so they both rode off going back toward Herndon,” Sheriff Mike Chapman said.

The woman described the men as being about 19 years old. One had a shaved head and one had a full head of hair.

The woman suffered minor injuries in the robbery.
