WASHINGTON -- A woman accused of killing her four daughters has asked a D.C. Superior Court judge for a bench trial.
Attorneys for Banita Jacks said Friday that she wants to waive her right to a jury trial, which is set for July 13.
Judge Frederick Weisberg told Jacks to make sure that she fully understands what she gains and what she loses by having a bench trial. He set a hearing for July 2 to determine whether to grant her request.
The decomposing bodies of Jacks' daughters, ages 5 to 17, were found in her southeast Washington rowhouse in January 2008.
