The Capital Beltway is back open in Alexandria after a crash backed up rush hour traffic Monday morning.

All westbound "Thru" lanes of the Beltway were closed, backing up traffic for at least 7 miles.

Thru lanes of the Inner Loop of the Beltway were closed at Route 1. Officers are investigating a crash, the Virginia Department of Transportation said on Twitter at 5:25 a.m.

VDOT advised drivers to stay in local lanes.
