Beloved Adams Morgan Dog “Romo” Leaving D.C. Soon

The unofficial mascot of Adams Morgan will leave the neighborhood this week.

Romo, the huge bull mastiff/pit bull mix that oversees Calvert Street NW from a first-floor window, will move to Arlington, Virginia with his owners on Friday.

The 150-pound pooch called the "King of Adams Morgan" will relocate to a house near Army Navy Country Club, owner Tiffany Scourby said.

"He'll have three times more space, a little backyard area and a lot more windows," she said. "We're still trying to project where he'll want to settle."

The droopy 8-year-old dog has spent years peering onto the street impassively, drawing the attention of countless Instagram users and even a couple who had engagement photos taken with him, as WTOP reported.

Alongside a nameplate below the windowsill that reads "Romo," Scourby, 37, and husband Peter Scourby, 34, posted another sign this week.

"Thanks for the memories, I'll miss you!!!" the sign says. The Scourbys hung it Monday night, right after they closed on their new home.

Since then, the couple has seen more camera flashes outside than usual.

"There are flash-lights going off all the time, but it's been 10 times more," said Scourby, who works in advertising.

The Scourbys, who are expecting their first child in September, are hoping for a smooth transition for Romo.

"I think he's going to miss the neighborhood a lot, and the neighborhood is going to miss him," Scourby said. "No one in the neighborhood knows us, but they sure know Romo."
