Beach Cops Ready to Bust Rowdy Teens

Police preparing to crack down on Senior Week celebrations in Maryland and Delaware

If you thought it was too early to start thinking about beach week, think again.

Representatives from the Dewey Beach Police Department traveled all the way to Bethesda, Md. Monday night to warn teens and their parents about their philosophy during graduation season: no tolerance.

Dewey Beach Police say one year they found a group of teens carrying cases of beer into a beach house before they carrried in a single piece of luggage.  Those kids were kicked out before they finished moving in.

While graduation season is a time to celebrate, Dewey officers told kids gathered at Walter Johnson High School they won't be doing anything but waiting for their parents if they're caught drinking or using drugs.

Delaware law requires adults to pick up any juveniles who are arrested.

That means parents from the Washington area will have to drive two hours to get their teens from police.  And you can bet the ride home will feel much longer than that.
