Baltimore Police Body Cam Catches Crash Caused by ‘Pokemon Go' Distraction

A van driving in Baltimore struck a city police cruiser in the 2900 block of Eastern Avenue Monday night after the driver said he was distracted, because he was playing “Pokemon Go” on his smartphone.

Three officers completed a call for service at the location and were standing on the sidewalk when the crash occurred. The collision was captured on the body camera of one of the officers, facing the direction from where the van was coming.

Police released the video on Twitter with a warning, “#PokemonGo is not all fun and games.” The driver is heard during the video saying, “That what I get for playing this dumb (expletive) game.”

None of the officers were injured. It is unknown if the driver or anyone else in the van suffered injuries.
