Australian Man Found Safe in DC After Going Missing for Months

A man from Australia who went missing for months after traveling to Washington, D.C., was found safe, police say.

John Wayne Regan came to D.C. to see a Georgetown University professor he met online.

Sara Singha of Georgetown's Berkley Center for Religion, Peace & World Affairs said in July that she last saw him in January, when he told her he was going to meet some friends.

Regan's family reported him missing out of concern that there was no activity on his credit cards, and he had only a week’s worth of clothing.

D.C. police said on Monday that Regan was found in Northwest D.C. in good health and of sound mind.

Police notified Regan's family that he is okay.
