Montgomery County police said they have arrested a man in connection with the death of a transgender woman.

Zella Ziona, 21, was found with a gunshot wound to the head Thursday evening. On Friday night, police arrested Rico Hector Leblond, 20, from Germantown, and charged him with first-degree murder.

Detectives said Leblond was arrested at the Germantown Transit Center without incident. They and friends of the victim said Ziona and Leblond knew each other.

Leblond is being held without bond until a review Monday afternoon. Police have not said what possible motive there was for the shooting death.

Ziona was also known as DeAndre Smith.
