Armed Robbers Captured on Video Holding Up Mobile Phone Store in D.C.

Video shows one man entering the Cricket Wireless store at 552 Georgia Ave. NW and almost immediately pulling out a gun

Two men were captured on surveillance video holding up a mobile phone store in Northwest D.C. during a brazen daylight robbery.

The crime occurred last week, but police released the video Wednesday in hopes that someone might recognize the two men.

The video shows one man entering the Cricket Wireless store at 552 Georgia Ave. NW and almost immediately pulling out a gun. Both men approach the counter, and the second man holds out a bag.

"They just came up right to the desk, he pulled out a gun, pointed it at me, said, 'Put the money in the bag,'" the clerk said. "[The gun] was an old-school revolver. I was a little freaked out."

The clerk quickly put items into the bag before the men walk out of the store.

Police said the robbery happened around 3 p.m. Aug. 28. Investigators believe one of the men is linked to seven other armed robberies within the past two weeks in the District -- including two robberies of the same Papa John's pizzeria on 11th Street SE.

In some, but not all of the robberies, he was assisted by another man carrying a money bag.
