Arlington Affordable Housing Project ‘Topped Out'

Units expected to open this fall

A milestone is marked in Arlington.

The Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing (APAH) "topped out" the new Springs Apartments going up on North Thomas Street near the Ballston Metro.

That's a construction tradition when the roof is sealed and many of the tradesmen transition from outside workers to inside.

The Springs Apartments will have 104 units and includes community rooms, a business center, underground parking and a playground.

Hundreds of people have already applied for the units which are expected to become available this fall.

Nina Janopaul, the president and CEO of APAH says applications are now being accepted on the group's website.

Hundreds of people have already applied.

Janopaul says other affordable housing projects are in the works.
