Judge Hears Arguments in Maryland Jail Death Case

A federal judge heard arguments on whether to dismiss some charges against a Maryland corrections officer accused of failing to get medical help for an inmate found hanging from a sheet.

Lawyers for Anthony McIntosh argued Friday that an FBI agent provided false grand jury testimony and that prosecutors did nothing to correct it. Prosecutors denied the allegations.

McIntosh was working at the Prince George's County jail on June 29, 2008 when he found Ronnie White unresponsive in his cell and hanging from a sheet. White was in custody in the hit-and-run death of a county police officer.

Prosecutors say McIntosh left the cell and didn't tell anyone what he saw. His lawyers say he panicked. Another guard later found White.

The trial is scheduled for next month.
