Applications to U.Va. Decline for First Time Since 2002

The University of Virginia has seen a decline in applications for the first time since 2002.

The university received 31,107 applications during the current admissions cycle. That's down from 31,336 applications during the previous cycle.

University spokesman Anthony de Bruyn tells The Daily Progress no data is available at this time to indicate possible reasons for the decline.

Early applications increased from 15,056 in the fall of 2013 to 16,187.
