Another College Park Robbery

A man was mugged violently early Sunday morning on the University of Maryland campus -- the latest in a severe stretch of strong-arm robberies on or near campus.

Three men accosted the victim, who was tackled to the ground and forced to give up his wallet and cell phone at about 4:30 a.m. early Sunday. He had been walking behind Anne Arundel Hall toward Queen Anne Hall. The victim was not injured.

The suspects are described as three men. One was between 5'10" and 6'2" with medium build and wearing a hoodie with dark horizontal stripes and dark pants. His hair was buzzed short.

Maryland's campus is notoriously dark at night. Since an August incident in which three men robbed two victims at gunpoint near campus, there have been at least six late-night robberies in College Park. Two men have been arrested in connection to that August 8 robbery. And there was another on-campus strong-arm robbery on June 21.

But police cannot say yet whether the string of campus robberies are related.

The University of Maryland Department of Public Safety is handling the investigation for today's incident. Most of the robberies in College Park have fallen under the Prince George's County Police Department's jurisdiction.
