Another Attempted Abduction in Arlington

Arlington County Police are investigating another attempted abduction.

About 10:30 p.m. Thursday, a man carrying a stick grabbed the wrists of a woman walking home from work and tried to drag her into the woods in the 800 block of Frederick Street, near Four Mile Run Trail.

He demanded she take off her clothing, police said.

The woman screamed and the attacker, and he took her cellphone and ran, police said.

He is a Hispanic man in his 20s standing about 5-feet-5-inches tall with a slim build and short hair, police said. He was wearing black pants and a black shirt.

Police are investigating whether it is connected to several other recent attacks.

About 2:45 a.m. Saturday, a man pulled a pillowcase over the head of a woman walking in the 1900 block of N. Highland Street, jumped on her and tried to sexually assault. She fought back and he ran.

A woman was walking home near 15th Street and Courthouse Road -- near police headquarters -- about 1:20 a.m. July 25 when someone approached from behind, pushed her into the bushes and tried to put his hand into her pants, police said. She was able to escape. He was described as clean-cut and boyish.

A woman was running on the Washington and Old Dominion Trail in the Glencarlyn Park area about 8:45 p.m. July 31 when a man threw her to the ground and tried to cover her mouth. She managed to scream and he fled. She described him as a Hispanic man in his 20s who stood about 5-foot-6, weighed about 140 pounds and wore long gray shorts with a belt and no shirt.

Another woman was walking home in the 4300 block of North Pershing Drive about 11:30 p.m. Aug. 1 when she was pushed to the ground from behind and touched inappropriately, police said. The woman bit his hand and he fled. He was described as Hispanic, 5-foot to 5-foot-3, with black hair and a mustache. He wore a gray T-shirt and jeans.

Police are advising women to take extra precautions in Arlington at night.
