More Animals Attacked In Fairfax Co.

2 goats, calf, chicken cut by unknown object

Two goats, a calf and a chicken were injured with an unknown object by an unknown assailant in the Herndon area sometime Saturday evening.

Fairfax County police say that the animals were being housed in the Kidwell Barn at Frying Pan Park when the attack occurred, sometime between 5 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. Sunday.

Staff discovered the assaults at around 8 a.m. Sunday.

Investigators say that the calf and one of the goats are less than a year old and still being bottle-fed. Both animals have no fear of humans and would have approached anyone who entered the barn on the assumption that they would have been fed.

The ages of the other animals are not known.

An investigation into these attacks is ongoing. It is not believed that the animals' injuries are life-threatening.

The latest attacks occurred near where several therapy horses were slashed April 26, though those horses were not being housed on Frying Pan Park property. Officials do not know if the two incidents were related.

No arrests have been made in the April attack.
