Angelos Submits Bid for Rosecroft

Baltimore Orioles owner Peter Angelos has submitted a bid to buy the shuttered Rosecroft Raceway in Prince George's County, Md., and revive the effort to allow slot machines there, the Baltimore Sun reported.

Angelos's bid was outlined in documents filed in bankruptcy court this week. It has the support of Rosecroft's owners and the bankruptcy trustee and needs to be approved by the court.

Under his proposal, Angelos would pay $9 million in cash plus another $5 million if slots are authorized in Prince George's County and a casino is operational at Rosecroft by Dec. 1, 2012.

The harness racing track closed in July because of financial troubles.

Voters would have to approve an amendment to the Maryland constitution to legalize slots at any new location.
