Amtrak Expands Train Service for Inauguration

More trains to go between Boston, D.C.

WASHINGTON -- Amtrak officials said they plan to increase the number of trains running on their Northeast corridor lines on Inauguration Day.

Amtrak spokeswoman Tracy Connell said that will mean more trains going between Boston and Washington. There also will be additional cars on the trains.

Connell said the move comes after Amtrak noticed that tickets for several trains that day had already sold out. She said officials are trying to increase service with more southbound trains in the morning and more northbound ones at the end of the day.

Amtrak plans to charge regular fares for the trips.
