Ex-Stripper Charged in Kidnapping of 5-Year-Old

Child found after Amber Alert issued

A Falls Church woman is facing kidnapping charges in connection with the abduction of a 5-year-old boy from Alexandria Sunday morning.

The boy, Kameron Deveaux Wells, was found in D.C. early Monday morning after an Amber Alert was issued Sunday night. Police initially reported that he was abducted in the area of the 6200 block of Little River Turnpike in Alexandria.

The child disappeared at about 11 a.m. while shopping with his grandfather at the Shoppers Food Warehouse at the Plaza at Landmark, authorities said. The grandfather said he turned into an aisle, looked back, and his grandson was not there. He looked for the boy for about 40 minutes and then contacted police.

Police searched the store and the parking lot and the rest of the area with assistance from a helicopter and K-9 units.

The boy was taken to a home in the 5100 block of Ninth Street in northwest Washington, police said. A resident at the home who had seen the Amber Alert broadcast during a football game became suspicious and contacted police. He told police the boy had been brought to his home by a friend and a woman his friend had met.

Earlier, a Metro bus driver saw the boy and contacted police.

The woman who brought the boy to the Northwest home, 28-year-old Falah Joe, is in police custody. She is charged in federal court in Alexandria with kidnapping and is being held in D.C.

The Amber Alert was cancelled at about 2 a.m. Monday. Kameron is in good condition and has been reunited with his family.

Joe is a former stripper and previously pleaded guilty to assault charges after trying to attack an ex-boyfriend during his 2003 sentencing in a killing at the D.C. club where she worked.
