An Amber Alert has expired for a missing 12-year-old Virginia girl and her grandmother, but police continue to search for them.
Police issued an Amber Alert on Tuesday, Aug. 7 for 12-year-old Angie Caroline Rodriguez Rubio and a critically missing adult alert for her grandmother, Elizabeth Rodriguez Rubio, 48. Both are residents of Harrisonburg, Virginia.
Harrisonburg Police Lt. Pete Ritchie said Virginia State Police canceled the Amber Alert on Saturday because it is protocol to do so after a certain period of time.
Ritchie told News4 that Harrisonburg police are still searching for them and hope to find them "alive and well."
"We're not changing our tune at all," Ritchie said. "We keep investigating, we keep following leads, and we're still looking for them."
Police believe Hareton Jaime Rodriguez-Sariol abducted the girl and her grandmother. Rodriguez-Sariol was apprehended later in the day Tuesday in Pennsylvania. Police say they also found a vehicle.
Rodriguez-Sariol has "a known history of infatuation" with the grandmother, according to police.

All three were believed to be traveling in his vehicle, which was involved in a vehicle fire on Interstate 66 in Warren County. Rodriguez-Sariol was seen at the two-mile marker on I-66 where the fire happened before police apprehended him.
Police had said they believed Rodriguez-Sariol was traveling north toward New York in white 2000 Volvo tractor trailer owned by AMG Express L.L.C., with Virginia license plate number 21739PZ.
