    Amber Alert Expires for Missing Va. Girl, Grandmother as Search Continues

    Police issued an Amber Alert for 12-year-old Angie Caroline Rodriguez Rubio (C) and a critically missing adult alert for her grandmother, Elizabeth Rodriguez Rubio, 48 (L). Police believe the two were abducted by Hareton Jaime Rodriguez-Sariol (R).

    An Amber Alert has expired for a missing 12-year-old Virginia girl and her grandmother, but police continue to search for them.

    Police issued an Amber Alert on Tuesday, Aug. 7 for 12-year-old Angie Caroline Rodriguez Rubio and a critically missing adult alert for her grandmother, Elizabeth Rodriguez Rubio, 48. Both are residents of Harrisonburg, Virginia.

    Harrisonburg Police Lt. Pete Ritchie said Virginia State Police canceled the Amber Alert on Saturday because it is protocol to do so after a certain period of time.

    Ritchie told News4 that Harrisonburg police are still searching for them and hope to find them "alive and well."

    A homeowner in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, went out to mow his lawn and found a dead body in his yard. News4's Meagan Ftizgerald reports a man has been charged for hiding his friend's body.

    "We're not changing our tune at all," Ritchie said. "We keep investigating, we keep following leads, and we're still looking for them."

    Police believe Hareton Jaime Rodriguez-Sariol abducted the girl and her grandmother. Rodriguez-Sariol was apprehended later in the day Tuesday in Pennsylvania. Police say they also found a vehicle.

    Rodriguez-Sariol has "a known history of infatuation" with the grandmother, according to police.

    The girl and her grandmother were last seen about 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the 2800 block of South Main Street in Harrisonburg with Rodriguez-Sariol.

    All three were believed to be traveling in his vehicle, which was involved in a vehicle fire on Interstate 66 in Warren County. Rodriguez-Sariol was seen at the two-mile marker on I-66 where the fire happened before police apprehended him.

    Police had said they believed Rodriguez-Sariol was traveling north toward New York in white 2000 Volvo tractor trailer owned by AMG Express L.L.C., with Virginia license plate number 21739PZ.

    Angie Caroline Rodriguez Rubio is 5 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs 112 pounds, police said. She has long, curly brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black blouse with flowers, black leggings-style pants and white sandals.

    Elizabeth Rodriguez Rubio is 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighs about 140 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a burgundy blouse and a black skirt.
