Thieves Snatch Signs from W&OD Trail

Pedestrians at several Falls Church, Va., intersections have some alleged thieves to thank if they're suddenly concerned for their safety while crossing the street.

Police say six road signs were snatched from the Washington and Old Dominion Trail on August 6 and August 18 -- signs that signal for cars to yield for pedestrians in crosswalks. The signs were taken from the trail at West Street, N. Oak Street, Little Falls Road, Grove Avenue and Gordon Road.

And who knew those signs were worth a nice chunk of change? The signs are valued at $1,806.24. The information police want in this case isn't worth quite as much, though: They're offering a $1,000 reward for info that can help them make an arrest.
