The family of Ali Ahmed Mohammed wants more details from the District government about how he died outside DC9 on Oct. 15.
A source close to the family told City Desk Mohammed's relatives have requested his autopsy report from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. OCME spokesperson Beverly Fields couldn't immediately confirm the request, but said, "That would be routine. I wouldn't be surprised if they had."
The medical examiner reported last week that Mohammed's death was a homicide, with heart trouble, alcohol, physical exertion and restraint among the contributing factors.
Unlike neighboring jurisdictions like Maryland, in D.C., autopsy reports are not public documents and can only be requested by the family of the deceased, "the Mayor, law enforcement agencies or officials, and Fatality Review Committees/Boards," according to the OCME website.
There's no word yet on whether Mohammed's family will share the report with the public once they've received it.
