Alexandria Preschool Employees Charged With Assaulting Girl

Fairfax County police have charged two Alexandria preschool employees with misdemeanor assault and battery for allegedly assaulting a 4-year-old student.

Police say the girl's mother reported finding bruises on her daughter's arms that she thought were sustained at James L. & Juliette McNeil Preschool Academy.

After an investigation, police issued warrants for the girl's teacher, 38-year-old Lisa Campbell, and assistant 40-year-old Cherie Evette Diggs. They turned themselves in to police this week. Both have been terminated from their jobs.

Fairfax police are concerned there could be more victims in this case, and are urging parents to take a closer look at their children.

It's unclear if Campbell or Diggs have attorneys.
