An eighth suspect has been charged in the murder of Makiyah Wilson nearly a year after the 10-year-old girl was shot while stepping outside her front door in Northeast D.C. to get ice cream.

D.C. police announced Monday that 26-year-old Antonio Murchison, of Southeast, was charged with premeditated first-degree murder while armed. Murchison was already in jail.

Wilson was killed after four masked suspects leaped out of a car and fired gunshots into a crowded apartment courtyard in the 300 block of 53rd Street NE on July 16, 2018. Police said she wasn't targeted.

Marquell Cobbs, Darrise Jeffers, Qujuan Thomas, Quentin Michals, Gregory Taylor and Mark Tee Price are also charged with murder in Makiyah's death. Cobbs is a minor charged as an adult. Quanisha Ramsuer is charged with obstructing justice.

The U.S. Marshals offered a $5,000 reward for a ninth suspect, Isaiah Murchison, earlier this month. WTOP reports Isaiah Murchison is Antonio Murchison's brother.

According to a grand jury indictment, the suspects involved in Wilson's killing were all part of a street gang known as the Glizzy Murder Gang or Wellington Park. The indictment named 11 suspects and says the murder stemmed from disputes between rival neighborhoods, Wellington Park and Clay Terrace.

The night that Wilson was killed, the gunmen fired more than 60 shots, got back into an Infiniti sedan and sped off, authorities said. Four other people, including Wilson's 18-year-old sister, were shot and wounded.
