800 Montgomery County Public School Buses Recalled

A nationwide recall affects hundreds of school buses in the suburbs of Washington, D.C.

Daimler Trucks North America is recalling about 53,000 buses nationwide due to an issue with the passenger seats.

Daimler said it issued the recall out of an abundance of caution because the seat backs might not have enough padding to properly protect passengers in a crash.

The recall includes 800 buses in Montgomery County Public Schools’ fleet.

The manufacturer said it will begin offering a free fix in early December.

Montgomery County Public Schools said it will continue to use the buses until the repairs are made.

The repair process could take until June because of the number of buses affected.
