8-Inch Water Main Break Floods at Least 1 Home in Prince George's County

Dozens of residents are without water and at least one home was flooded after a water main broke overnight in Prince George's County.

Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) officials say 35 residents are affected by the break on Larchmont Avenue in Capitol Heights. The 8-inch water main left a crater in the road and flooded at least one home.

Crews shut off water to the main around 4:25 a.m. Friday.

Residents reported brown, foul-smelling water bubbling out of toilets and through the plumbing, leaving more than a foot of water in basements.

The water main break comes just hours after a boil water advisory was lifted in the southern part of the county following another water main break.

There's no word on how long it will take to repair the break.
