All eight firefighters have non-life threatening injuries, the department said.

Video from D.C. Fire and EMS shows huge orange flames shooting out of a fourth-floor apartment window while smoke billowed out of the building.

Firefighters rescued one resident who was in good condition and treated a cat at the scene before requesting the Humane Rescue Alliance to get medical help for the animal.
