Update: Police say they have found the car at Merrimac Drive and Riggs Road in Adelphi, Maryland, on Saturday afternoon.
A man carjacked a 76-year-old woman in the parking lot of a Maryland church Thursday night, police said.
The woman was leaving Episcopal Church of Our Savior in Hillandale about 9:10 p.m. when a man opened the driver's side door of her car, demanded money and shoved an object into the woman's stomach, implying he had a handgun, Montgomery County police said.
After she told him she didn't have any money, the man pulled her out of the car by her arm, threw her to the ground and drove away in her car, police said.
The woman suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Police described the carjacker as a black man in his 30s, standing 5-feet-6-inches to 5-feet-8-inches tall, weighing 150-190 pounds, and wearing a dark shirt and khaki pants.
