Investigators have eliminated all accidental causes of a six-alarm warehouse fire in Alexandria, Va., on Labor Day.
Alexandria Fire Department fire marshals and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives determined the Sept. 2 fire was incendiary in nature and identified a person of interest.
More than 200 firefighters from three neighboring counties were called in to help battle the blaze that afternoon.
They needed four hours to control the fire at the former Washington Examiner plant at 801 S. Pickett Street. The roof partially collapsed soon after firefighters arrived.
The structure housed a construction company and several other businesses, which were closed for Labor Day. No injuries were reported.
The damage estimate is about $6 million.
The commonwealth's attorney now has the case.
