One man was killed and four others were injured in three separate shootings in Washington, D.C., overnight.

The first shooting happened about 11:50 p.m. Wednesday in the 3500 block of Stanton Road SE. Police say two men were shot.

Both victims were taken to the hospital. Their conditions are not known at this time.

Just under two hours later, 23-year-old Dontae Mitchell of southeast D.C. was fatally injured in a shooting about 1:40 a.m. at a gas station in the 1000 block of Southern Avenue SE — about a mile and a half away from the scene of the first shooting.

He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Just after 2 a.m., officers were called to a third shooting in the 100 block of Ivanhoe Street SW. Two men were found at the scene suffering from gun shot wounds.

No arrests have been made in any of these cases.

No further information has been released.

Over the Memorial Day weekend, 13 people were shot, four fatally.

Newsham and Mayor Muriel Bowser said the police department has increased staffing by 25 percent in areas experiencing increased crime. Other city resources were sent to neighborhoods, recreation centers and pools in Wards 5, 7 and 8.

There have been 71 homicides in the District so far this year, up 52 percent from last year.
