400 Evacuated From Bethesda Hotel Due to Fire

Fire broke out in an electrical room in a garage at the Bethesda Hyatt Regency

More than 400 people had to be evacuated from a Bethesda hotel early Monday morning, said Montgomery County fire officials.

The fire broke out in an electrical room in a garage at the Bethesda Hyatt Regency hotel. The blaze also shut down Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda for several hours.

Authorities say the hotel guests were taken to a nearby high school while firefighters fought the blaze.

One injury was reported to someone who was working in the area at the time. The injuries were described as serious but not life-threatening.
