4 Injured in Flash Fire at Arlington Restaurant

A kitchen flash fire broke out in an Arlington restaurant early Tuesday afternoon, injuring multiple people, according to the county fire department.

Four people were injured when an aerosol can of cooking spray near a stovetop overheated, exploded and created a flash fire at DIRT, located at 4121 Wilson Blvd.

One person with non-life threatening but serious burns and two people with minor burns were transported from the scene. Another victim was treated and released,  officials said.

The Arlington County Fire Department responded to the restaurant for the report of multiple burn victims, according to their Twitter page. The fire marshal is on the scene investigating what caused the explosion and the subsequent fire.

The fire department reminded everyone to keep aerosol cans and combustible items away from stove tops and ovens to avoid similar fires, according to a tweet from the department.
