Family Mourns 39-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run on H Street

A 39-year-old man has died after a hit-and-run driver struck him on H Street in Northeast D.C. on Friday.

Hubert Bradley Hinds was crossing H Street NE behind Union Station just before 8:30 p.m. when a green 2015 Ford Mustang hit him and kept on going, police say.

The driver then hit a D.C. Circulator bus and a parked car in the unit block of H Street NW, police said. There were no passengers on the bus.

Hinds succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday.

Hinds, who was known to friends and family as "Bradley" or "Brad," worked nearby helping people in need get outpatient mental health services, his family told News4.

Hinds' father is retired News4 photographer Hugh Hinds.

"I'm always thinking in my mind, was he in pain? What kind of person would just leave the scene and not turn around, not call 911," Hinds' sister, Bunmi Wynn, said.

Wynn said friends from around the D.C. area and overseas have reached out to say how much they treasured her brother.

"Always smiling. Always laughing. Making people smile. Telling little quick jokes. Family guy always holding the kids," Wynn said of Hinds. "He was that kind of guy."

Police are asking anyone who knows anything about the crash to call 202-727-9099 or text the tip line at 50411.
